You thought you could perform better, but

In these six months, apart from looking for a full-time job, I also tried various paths – becoming a videographer, video editor and so many other things. During the process, I discovered my likes and dislikes. I rediscovered my interest in a path that diverges from linguistic into cognitive science.
When I got the answer, I decided to apply for some research assistants positions at local universities, hoping to gain research experiences and strengthen my qualifications.
And the first problem appeared.
Since my programme didn’t include any courses on statistics or programming, I lacked the technical skills many positions required.
Read till now, you may wonder why can’t I get an online certificate to acquire the skills.
What online certificate can’t replace?
Online courses can provide you the skills, but it can’t demonstrate how you can apply it an academic research project. Also, online courses can’t tell if you cheated in the exam.
As expected, I received no feedback from the HR.
I began to look back to the past, seeing what I did that led to the current scenario.
Many possibilities appeared in my mind: changing my major, withdraw from my programme and apply for another program, sitting for another lectures(but the university didn’t allow us to do so), and much more.
I could have made better preparation. I blamed myself for so many times. However, I nearly missed that my environment and reality didn’t allow me to carry out my plan.
I was in the survival mode, and it was ok to accept that I wasn’t able to make the best decisions for myself.
For readers like you, you may also blame yourself for not making the best decisions in life. However, imagine that if you didn’t make the wrong decision, you wouldn’t be able to learn from it and realize the flaws.
